General Silicones Medical Product Orders Skyrocket During Global Pandemic

Manufacturer sees 65% increase in worldwide demand from Covid-19 orders

Hsinchu, Taiwan, August 27, 2020 - Specialist silicone products manufacturer, General Silicones (TPEx: 4730), has seen an unprecedented 65 percent leap in demand from the medical industry in the first half of 2020 as the world battles coronavirus. General Silicones (GS), which has 50 years of experience in silicone rubber trading and manufacturing, has invested in new equipment to meet the surge in orders, largely from the USA and Europe.

Key Supplier of Critical Silicone Medical Parts

GS is a key supplier of a wide range of silicone products across numerous industries, including medical, automobile, consumer products, electronics and IT. But the urgent situation worldwide, with a massive increase in medical activity, has taken center stage this year. GS is facing a dramatic increase in demand for critical silicone parts needed for respiratory assistance equipment, research, work safety, and other purposes.

“Obviously, we want to do what we can help, both from the point of view of a business and also to assist doctors and patients all over the world,” said Michael Lin, President and CEO of GS. “We’ve invested in new manufacturing equipment so we can deliver vital supplies where they are most needed even more quickly”.

Adding Manufacturing Equipment to Secure Production

The new manufacturing equipment includes Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) Injection Molding Machines. This equipment is helping GS ramp up production and accelerate delivery throughout its global manufacturing and distribution network.

High Demand for Silicone Scalpel Mats, Pin Mats, Tubing, Breathing Masks

GS is seeing very high demand for customized silicone medical parts: such as silicone scalpel mats, pin mats, tubing, breathing masks and bags, medical membrane keypads, medical mouse pads, electric knife parts, silicone instrument mat, magnetic (instrument) mat, nebulizer plugs, bacterial Petri plates, as well as other medical parts and O-rings.

Despite the increase in medical demand, the company wishes to assure all its customers in other industries that GS remains ready to meet their orders for silicone products and raw materials as efficiently as always.
