2 May 2013, Taipei Taiwan - COUGAR, a manufacturer of German designed computer chassis and power supplies, has introduced a new full featured, mini gaming tower PC case, the COUGAR SPIKE. The SPIKE delivers expansion capability in a micro-ATX space-saving design.
The COUGAR SPIKE case with dimensions of 180 x 370 x 425mm (WxHxD) is a mini tower that has been space optimized to accept longer high-end gaming graphics cards of up to 330mm. Modern micro-ATX motherboards are fully featured and capable of everything you need in a gaming system. With a growing trend towards building micro-ATX systems that are the equal to large ATX based offerings, the COUGAR SPIKE nicely fits the need for a full featured yet small sized case at a very reasonable price.
The SPIKE mini tower comes with interior black paint to give it a professional and sleek look. Tool-less installation mechanisms are included on two 5.25” and two 3.5” device bays. A total of two 5.25” and three 3.5” drives as well as one 2.5” SSD or laptop hard drive can be installed in the SPIKE. The one 2.5” mount is cleverly tucked away on the case floor. Also, the two 5.25” bays and one of the 3.5” bays have convenient external access facilitating the mounting of any device such as a card reader or fan controller, not just HDD, SSD, or CD/DVD drives.
The COUGAR SPIKE case comes with one rear 120mm fan pre-installed to facilitate efficient front to back air flow for maximum cooling. In total, there is support for 4 fans. One 80/120mm fan for the rear holds the pre-installed COUGAR 120mm fan. There are mountings and grills for additional optional fans, one 80/90/120mm fan on the front and two side panel mounted 120mm fans.
This case includes many small convenient features for LAN gamers such as the rear tab for installing a lock. A modern front USB3.0 port is included for convenience at maximum data transfer speeds. More standard front features include headphone and microphone jack and a USB2.0 port.
